AYIN Becomes First Project to Pass Third Party Audit on Alephium L1
AYIN share’s news of its first Audit milestone and provide deeper insights to all things tech at AYIN
The AYIN Collective is a growing fusion of world-class talent. Core members of the team have considerable track record in executing at the highest levels. Today we salute Saul — AYIN’s Tech King — with nearly a decade in the DLT space and an IRL history working for some of the planets biggest names is tech, AYIN are truly blessed to have its technology path being architected and lead by such wisened and indomitable hands. TL;DR: The guy’s a GIGACHAD!
In Roadmap reveal #2 “Migration 2.0” we said “We won’t bore you with the onerous details of our tech stack optimisations…” — well, we lied ; ). We feel its balanced, necessary, and important to give you stronger eyeballs on the behind-the-scenes excellence — the enablers of all the ALPHa reveals!
Migration 2.0 was a leap-frog move to deploy new/absent enterprise-grade infrastructure, processes, and facilities to AYIN, all underwritten by a mission critical requirement to structure a secure and sustainable base of operations, fit and optimised for radical speed & scale.
We are proud to share a closer look at some of our tech decisioning and strategies, and the key components and enhancements we have been making to AYIN’s digital and decentralised infrastructure —( during the 3 months of AYIN doing nothing ; ) !
1. Scalable Architecture
• Microservices: Our platform is now built using a microservices architecture, which allows us to scale our individual DeFi products independently. This ensures high availability and fault tolerance, enabling us to handle increased traffic and transaction volumes seamlessly. It also enables us to start sharing with you new services via our beta programme before they go general availability. Headless microservices are also a key strategic enabler for our AYIN Catalyst partners.
•Containerisation: Leveraging Docker, we have containerised our applications to ensure consistent deployment and efficient resource utilisation. This approach also enhances our ability to manage and scale our DeFi product services dynamically.
2. Security
• Zero Trust Model: We are moving towards a fully implemented Zero Trust security framework, ensuring that every request, whether internal or external, is authenticated and authorised. This reduces the risk of breaches and unauthorised access.
• Secret Management and Key Services: We employ advanced secret management and key services to protect owner access and sensitive data. This includes using full encryption of keys, ensuring that access to critical systems and data is tightly controlled and monitored.
3. Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Automated Pipelines: Our CI/CD pipelines automate the entire process of building, testing, and deploying code. This allows us to release new features and updates rapidly while maintaining high quality and reliability.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): We manage our infrastructure as code through a multi-staged ALM (Application Lifecycle Management), ensuring consistency, repeatability, and ease of scaling across different environments.
4. High Performance and Reliability
• Load Balancing and Auto-Scaling: Our infrastructure now includes advanced load balancing and auto-scaling mechanisms, ensuring that our services remain responsive and available even during peak usage times.
5. Monitoring and Observability
• Real-Time Monitoring: we have implemented real-time monitoring and alerting systems. These tools provide us with deep insights into system performance, enabling proactive issue resolution.
• Logging and Tracing: Comprehensive logging and tracing has now been implemented to help us track and diagnose issues across our services, ensuring quick identification and resolution of any performance bottlenecks or errors.
6. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
• Automated Backups: We have implemented regular automated backups and a well-defined disaster recovery plan to ensure that we can quickly recover from any data loss or system failure scenarios.
• Geo-Redundancy: Our infrastructure is geo-redundant, with data centers located in multiple regions. This provides an added layer of resilience against regional outages and disasters.
7. Team Expansion
• Multidisciplinary Engineering Team: The project has grown from a single full-stack developer to a formidable team of multi-disciplined engineers. This diverse team brings a wealth of DeFi development experience and expertise, driving innovation and excellence in every aspect of our development process.
•Developer House Collaboration: To further accelerate our progress, we have partnered with a top-tier developer house agency. This collaboration will rocket-strap our V3.0 developments, enabling us to tackle the most ambitious items on our roadmap with unmatched speed and precision. Expect groundbreaking updates and features to be revealed shortly, showcasing the next level of what AYIN can achieve.
8. Contract Security Assessment:
• Rigorous Auditing: In May 2024, AYIN engaged with both core devs and independent auditors ULAM LABS to assess the security of our contracts. This evaluation, which took approximately 6 weeks, confirmed that our codebase adheres to best practices and maintains a high level of quality. No major concerns were identified, and the AYIN team promptly addressed all necessary improvements based on the feedback — we will be sharing the full report soon.
•Comprehensive Checks: The audit included checks on events logging, error codes, low-level call returns, high test coverage, proper use of assets, input validation, edge case handling, and more. We also ensured proper control access, risk management, and the implementation of timelocks for critical operations to provide users with a transparent and secure platform.
9. Development Operations Management
• JIRA Implementation: We have integrated JIRA for our development operations, enhancing our DeFi Product management capabilities. Allowing us to track progress, manage tasks, and ensure that our agile methodologies are effectively executed, leading to more efficient and transparent development processes.
Additionally, all end-user generated feedback, such as requests like “ I just need a search field to find coins” are captured and integrated directly into our backlog. This feedback is then prioritised, t-shirt sized, and developed, ensuring that our platform evolves in direct response to your user needs and preferences.
10. Enhanced DDoS Protection
• Cloudflare Integration: We have increased our protection against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks by integrating Cloudflare’s advanced security features. This provides an additional layer of defense, ensuring that our services remain available and performant even under adverse conditions.
11. Alephium Node version Upgrade
Our DEX was previously on version 2.8.0, and we are excited to announce that we are updating to the Rhone version 3.0.3. This update brings enhanced performance, new features, and improved security measures, ensuring that our users have access to the latest Alephium advancements that super charge our decentralised exchange technology. [edit: We are upgraded!]
In reveal #2 “Migration 2.0” we said that there were still two items to complete before we close out this transition from OldCo to NewCo. Today we can share that those remaining items were the Rhone Upgrade and passing the 3rd party audit. Both of those are now complete and the AYIN platform now moves in to V3.0 strategic frameworks and thinking.
And so …a monster hat tip and round of applause to Saul and the wider tech team’s he manages. This passage of rebirth, re-platforming and AYIN transformation has been relentless — it simply wouldn’t have happened without leadership like his and the commitment from so many in the AYIN Collective towards our ongoing pursuit of greatness. THANK YOU!
In closing: at AYIN we come from a stable of ‘sharing’ philosophy — the cake is HUGE (!) — how do we get as many people as possible to help cook, eat, and share the cake forward — this is the first of many Technology Blogs that we plan to share forward as part of the AYIN AmpliFi comms strategy.
We can assure you that the best is yet to come! Watch this space!
